Eating out choices if you are trying to shift the pounds

If you are trying to lose weight and enjoy eating out, don’t stop (is one of life’s pleasures and certainly one of mine!), but try to make healthy choices.
Choose:
  • Foods that are grilled, boiled or steamed, rather than fried or battered
  • Options that come with lots of salad or vegetables
  • Tomato-based sauces rather than creamy ones
  • Fruit or sorbets for dessert (or share a sweet with a companion)
  • Drier curries, rather than mild creamy ones
  • Boiled rice and potatoes rather than fried alternatives
  • Lean meat and fish with plenty of vegetables
  • Opt for two courses rather than three
  • Dressings and sauces ‘on the side’ rather than on your plate, so that you can decide how much to add
